Metoprolol Succinate: Belongs to a class of drug known as Beta blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure. Metoprolol works by inhibiting the binding of adrenaline to the beta receptors of heart & kidney thereby reduces the heart rate or renin release and thus lowers the blood pressure.
Amlodipine: Belongs to a class of drug called as Calcium channel blockers. It is used to treat high blood pressure or to prevent angina. It decreases the blood pressure and reduces the workload of the heart by blocking the calcium channels present in heart or blood vessel which results into reduced cardiac contraction & reduced vasoconstriction, which helps in preventing heart attacks and strokes.

METDORNIL-AM may have add-on (additive) effects in lowering your blood pressure and heart rate. Amlodipine works by relaxing the blood vessels while metoprolol works by slow down the heart rate. Together they bring about the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
