Mode of Action
Ramipril: Belongs to a class of drug known as ACE-inhibitors (Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors). It works by interfering with the body's Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system (RAAS) which is responsible for regulating the body's blood pressure. Ramipril inhibits the conversion of Angiotensin I to Angiotensin II by inhibiting or limiting the angiotensin converting enzyme and making blood vessels relax and widen. This results into lowering of blood pressure & improves blood flow to your heart muscle.
Hydrochlorothiazide: Belongs to a class of drug known as Thiazide diuretics. This medicine is used to treat hypertension. Hydrochlorothiazide works by preventing the reabsorption of sodium, chloride and fluid in DCT (Distal convoluted tube) in kidney (nephron) and removing the extra water & certain electrolytes from the body & thus reduces the excess fluid levels in the body and treats edema associated with heart or kidney disease. It also reduces vasoconstriction & improves blood flow.
